Letter of Apology from a Christian for Unmasked Worship Rallies, Led by Sean Feucht
I was invited to a worship “gathering” yesterday. I missed it, but woke up to the Instagram posts and videos of thousands of unmasked Christians that had gathered together for a worship protest of sorts, led by pastor Sean Feucht, standing up for Christian rights to not be silenced.
I instantly felt sickened and wanted to share my thoughts, as well as offer a heartfelt apology on behalf of my Christian community.
These rallies started after the worship ban was put in place in CA. Christians felt like there was a target on their back and they felt like they needed to make a stand for their religious freedoms.
I understand this need to stand up to unnecessarily harsh restrictions that were put in place (especially when others, like the Black Lives Matter protests that were chanting and meeting together in the thousands were being allowed — which I fully support and have been a part of, as well).
But what sickened me, is the lack of social distancing and the lack of masks. It feels like this was a massive message to the world, delivered with a megaphone, that Christians not only do not have compassion for their fellow man, but instead, blatant…
