Finding Success God’s Way
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3
This is one of those profound and impactful verses in the Bible that seem so incredibly simple, but in our human frailty, can feel like nothing short of impossible.
When the outcome of all of our hard work isn’t panning out according to our expectations, when our hope for a new endeavor is dashed and we feel disheartened and discouraged, we often turn to stressing and striving. We look to the world’s ways to figure it out, we dig our heels in and we grind and we hustle harder. We feel stressed, overwhelmed, and depleted. We tap all of our available resources and then some. We become like Pig-Pen Christians, walking around with a permanent dark cloud surrounding us. Or since we’re talking characters, maybe we don a depressed state like Eeyore, thinking thoughts like, “I guess I’ll never amount to much of anything to anyone…” (insert Eeyore voice)
Stress, striving, dark cloud living, depressed states are NOT God’s ‘lighter burden’ way for us as Believers! The World may work themselves to the ground and possibly even find success in it, but God says, when we commit (entrust) our work (our thoughts) to the God that created us and formed us in the womb, the God who knows the very number of hairs on our head, and who keeps every one of our tears in a bottle, to this God, our plans WILL be established (or succeed).
This simple verse isn’t a number on our to do list for us to cross off of our “Things a Christian Should do” checklist…
